The past weekend has resulted in many scenes of destruction caused by non-stop rain across southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Many communities have either been evacuated, are have declared states of emergency. This has been an incredibly widespread event, and to get a better idea of the extent of the damage, take a look at the photos in this article: http://cjme.com/story/photos-damage-storm-impacts-thousands-sask/379573
Another threat with this storm system was high winds, combined with intense pockets of precipitation, which created near zero visibility at times on SK highways, as I witnessed myself: http://youtu.be/jIdGJlpBGK0
The forecast is finally showing some relief coming, hopefully, as soon as Tuesday. However, the effects of this system will be long lasting and potentially devastating for farmers in the affected areas. I hope to have more updates as this story continues to unfold.
